I feel like I’ve been a Johnny-come-lately in the department of believing in myself. I’ve always been artistic and creative, but somehow tucked that part of me away while I started a family…4 children to be precise, over 5 years. I couldn’t see a path to use my creativity, it was a dormant part of me. It wasn’t until my 30’s, wth baby steps, I started putting faith in my vision and talents. I 1st started by teaching myself to sew hankies on dresses fo my daughters. I loved fabrics, colors and textures and my capabilities grew quickly. That was the birth of my Mamapatrice clothing brand. When I started, I barely knew how to even operate a sewing machine, let alone follow a pattern. To be honest I still can’t really follow a pattern, but I can make my own Early on I realized photography and presentation was just as important as my clothing. I only had seconds to grab a customer’s attention. I loved creating/capturing a whole mood of an outfit. I fell in love with photography…from simply invoking emotion or telling a story. Last year I decided to branch into portrait photography as well. Little by little, success by success, I have grown to believe in my capabilities, my talents, my vision…and in myself. That path I could not see in my 20’s, I know I can make in my 30’s.

I feel passionately about people finding their passion…especially women. In the modern-day and age, we are expected to be so many things for other people. Whether, we forget or aren’t taught to believe in ourselves, many of us fail take risk on our passions and talents…unltimately fail on taking risks on ourselves. No matter what a person’s passion is, I find myself helping others to find their own paths, a way to make their passions what they do in their life. From sharing social networking or marketing ideas, at times offer my services if needed, to being their cheerleader. I know I doubt myself, encouraging words from others, have helped me keep my path. Sometime you just need somene else to believe in you, when you loose sight of yourself. I am happy if I can be apart of that and embraced those that have don that for me. I feel learning to believe in my talents has been a gift. It fills my soul to do what I love, and I wish that for anyone.

I am a diamond, still in the rough. I know my full potential has not been yet realized, not even close. I’ve made it this far schooling myself, reading, observing and experimenting. Amy Wenzel’s photography, just blows my mind, what a tremendous experience this would be for my growth as a photographer and all that entails! I believe that a workshop with Amy Wenzel would be monumental in helping me grow into an inspirational photographer, that I feel I have the potential to be.

I am having Spring fever! This morning I was going through some photos that just have that warm glow, this sweet photo stood out. I played with it this morning, giving it a vintage wash. I am so excited to do more outside location photography, as it seems Spring is trying to emerge. But I still resist temptation to put the kids snow etire away…as I’ve become slightly supersticious (as usually I am far from that in nature) that it seems when I put the snow clothing away in the beginning of March, we get another snow storm. So I will spare us all, in the Lehigh Valley, PA, a snow fall and keep the snow clothes out for a few more weeks I hope you enjoy the Image of the week!

Cutest Baby & Child Contest!

I thought it would be fun to have a little contest with a great prize, while Winter is melting away! I am looking for the cutest baby child. The winner will recieve a free session with Patrice Mitchell Photography and a $100 print credit!

The Rules

Join my Fan Page or sign up for my newsletter. If you are already a fan or on my newsletter than you are already on your way! Please share this with your friends and family that also may want to join in the fun!

Have a little photo session with your child or submit a recent photo. If you are client of mine, you may use a photo from our session. Photos from other professional photographers are not allowed. You may submit ONE photo per child by March 20th! The contest is for children newborn to 18.

Submit your photo to me at patrice@patricemitchell.com with permission to use your photo in this contest. I will create a poll from all the submissions. The voting will last from March 21st to April 6th.

Send friends and family to join my fan page or newsletter to VOTE for their favorite picture (I mean your photo You must be a member of my fan page or sign up for my newsletter to vote. Only one vote per person.

Viola, fun in the Snow

Her coat is flocking, and I spend my down time, trying to keep the flocks the right side, and explaining to people, that she is supposed to be a matted mess

This is my lastest session with a 3 week old baby. She has the cutest, full head of hair. Mine wither were bald or natural mohawks . She modeled another fun chucky knit hat from Knitwitwoolis. Newborns are becoming some of my favorites to photograph. It can a challenge, getting them to drift off, but well worth it for those serene mommets. I even caught a baby dream smile. Pregnant or know someone pregnant, and in the Lehigh Valley, PA? Schedule your session newborn with me, before your baby is born. Photos such as these are best done in the 1st 2 weeks of life Better yet, schedule a maternity session and capture the sweetest momments of waiting for your lttle one to arrive.

I photographed this little cutie this week. I know, as parents we all think our kids are beautiful (and they are) and could model…but this little one really could model! She never fussed, loved her hat and tutu, a baby session was never so easy. And those blue eyes, thye just popped with all the plum!
